When You Suspect a Leak or a Pipe Problem

A hidden water leak behind a wall, under a slab, or in your yard can waste thousands of gallons before you ever see a drop. You might notice your water bill suddenly high with no visible leak, hear the sound of running water but nothing on, or find a wet spot on floor no explanation. These are signs that something in your plumbing system has failed and needs professional leak detection.

We handle leak detection, pipe leak repair, pipe replacement, repiping, and water line repair for residential and commercial properties throughout Bismarck, Mandan, Lincoln, Wilton, and surrounding communities in Burleigh and Morton Counties. Whether it’s a cracked pipe fix under the kitchen, a corroded pipe replacement in an older home, or a main water line repair in your yard, we find the problem and fix it.

The average household wastes nearly 10,000 gallons of water per year from leaks, and 10% of homes have leaks that waste 90 gallons or more per day. That kind of water loss drives up your bill and causes hidden damage to floors, walls, and foundations that only gets worse over time.

Signs You Need Have a Leak or Pipe Problem

Water Bill Suddenly High With No Explanation

If your water bill suddenly high and you haven’t changed your usage, a hidden water leak is the most likely cause. Even a small leak in an underground water line or behind a wall can waste hundreds of gallons per day without any visible sign. A high water bill leak is one of the first warnings homeowners notice.

Sound of Running Water But Nothing Is On

Hearing the sound of running water but nothing on is a classic sign of a supply line leak inside a wall, under a floor, or underground. The water is flowing somewhere it shouldn’t. Don’t ignore this. The longer it runs, the more damage it causes.

Wet Spot on Floor, Wall, or Ceiling

A wet spot on floor no explanation, a damp patch on the wall, or a ceiling leak that appears without rain overhead usually means a pipe has failed behind the surface. Wall leak and ceiling leak situations require prompt pipe leak repair before mold sets in.

Low Water Pressure Throughout House

If you have low water pressure throughout house and not just at one fixture, the problem is likely a failing main water supply line, a corroded galvanized pipe, or a partially closed valve. Low water pressure that develops gradually often points to mineral buildup or pipe corrosion.

Brown Water From Tap

Brown water from tap is a sign of corroded pipes, usually galvanized steel or old iron pipes. The rust and sediment inside the pipe flakes off and discolors your water. This is both a water quality issue and a clear sign the pipes are failing. If your home was built before 1970, galvanized pipe replacement may be overdue.

Wet Spot in Yard With No Rain

A wet spot in yard no rain usually means an underground water line leak or a water main break on your property. The water saturates the soil above the leak, creating soft or soggy ground. This type of water line leak needs underground water line repair before it undermines your foundation or driveway.

Pipe and Leak Services We Provide

Can plumber find leak without breaking walls? Yes. We use electronic leak detection equipment to locate hidden leaks behind walls, under slabs, and in underground supply lines without unnecessary demolition. Slab leak detection is one of our most requested services for homes on concrete foundations. We’ll tell you exactly where the leak is before we open anything up.

We handle all types of pipe repair and pipe replacement: broken pipe repair in walls and ceilings, copper pipe repair for pinhole leaks, pipe joint repair at failing connections, and cracked pipe fix for damaged sections. If the damage is limited to one area, spot repair saves you the cost of full replacement.

When leaks are showing up in multiple locations or your pipes are past their useful life, whole house repiping is the long-term solution. We remove old galvanized, polybutylene, or corroded copper lines and replace them with modern PEX repiping throughout the home. Full home replumbing typically takes 2 to 5 days depending on the size of the house. How long does repiping take? We’ll give you a clear timeline during your estimate. Repiping cost North Dakota varies by home size and pipe material, but we provide up-front pricing before starting.

We handle main water line repair, water service line replacement, and underground water line repair for both residential and commercial properties. If your water line broke, we’ll locate the failure, excavate to the pipe, and make the repair or install a new water supply line. For some jobs, trenchless water line replacement may be an option to reduce disruption to your yard. My water line broke what do I do? Call us immediately and shut off your main water valve to stop the flow.

Homes built before 1970 often have galvanized steel pipes that corrode from the inside, restricting flow and turning water brown. Homes built between 1978 and 1996 may have polybutylene pipes that become brittle from chlorine exposure and fail without warning. If you need to replace galvanized pipes or schedule a polybutylene pipe replacement, we’ll assess your system and recommend the best approach. Old pipe replacement with modern PEX or copper protects your home for decades.

Signs You Need Repiping

Not every leak means you need a whole house repiping. But some patterns point clearly in that direction. Here are the signs you need repiping rather than another spot repair:

Frequent leaks in different locations. If you’re fixing a new leak every few months in different parts of the house, the pipes themselves are the problem, not individual joints.

Visible corrosion on exposed pipes. Green, white, or orange buildup on copper pipes, or rusty, flaking galvanized lines in the basement or utility room, means the internal condition is likely worse than what you can see.

Brown water from tap or rust-colored water. This indicates advanced internal corrosion in galvanized steel pipes. No amount of flushing fixes this.

Low water pressure throughout house that’s getting worse. Corroded pipes narrow over time as mineral and rust deposits build up inside. Pressure drops gradually until fixtures barely function.

Your home has galvanized, polybutylene, or lead pipes. These materials have known failure patterns. Galvanized steel corrodes after 40 to 70 years. Polybutylene fails unpredictably due to chlorine exposure. If your home was built before 1996, a pipe inspection can confirm what material you have and whether replacement is needed.

An estimated 10 million homes in the United States were built with polybutylene pipes between 1978 and 1996. Many of these systems have already failed or are approaching the end of their functional lifespan. If your home falls in that build window, proactive replacement with PEX repiping is the safest path forward.

Pipe and Leak Questions

How to find hidden water leak?

Start by checking your water meter: turn off all water in the house, wait 2 hours, and check if the meter moved. If it did, you have a leak. We use electronic leak detection to pinpoint the exact location without tearing into walls or floors unless necessary.

Repiping cost North Dakota depends on home size, number of fixtures, pipe material (PEX vs copper), and accessibility. We provide a written, up-front quote after inspecting your system. Call (701) 805-9911 to schedule a free estimate.

Most whole house repiping jobs take 2 to 5 days depending on the size of the home and the complexity of the layout. We’ll give you a clear timeline and keep disruption to a minimum. You’ll have running water restored as quickly as possible.

If the leak is isolated and the rest of your system is in good shape, repair is the right call. If you’re seeing brown water from tap, multiple leaks, or your home has galvanized or polybutylene pipes, repiping is usually the smarter long-term investment.

Yes. We handle water main break repair and water service line replacement on private property. The city handles the main in the street, but the line from the meter to your home is your responsibility. If your water line broke, shut off the main valve and call us.
